Case Study: Agricultural Engineer

Competency demonstration report (CDR) is the pathway for Engineers whose degree/qualifications don’t fall into the direct accreditation category of Engineers’ Australia. The accreditation of a degree depends on the country as well as the University, i.e., if the academic institution from which you achieved your engineering degree falls under the accords established by the Australian Education wing, i.e., Sydney Accord, Washington Accord, Dublin Accord, then you don’t require a CDR to accredit yourself to Engineers Australia. However, if your degree does not fall under any of these accords, it is not accredited. Hence, you have no other choice but to go through the CDR pathway for your skills assessment.

So if you are thinking of preparing a CDR application to have yourself registered as a professional engineer in Australia, then you must have:

• Equivalence of the competencies in a four-year full-time honors bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Skilled employment: Evidence of employment must be provided by applicants whose career episodes are based on engineering experience

This means that you can use the projects you did either as part of your academic curriculum or as part of your work history to develop a CDR application.

What if the academic qualifications and my work history don’t adhere to each other?

If your academic background is different from your work history, you can still develop a CDR application for yourself. But what you need to do is be very precise in selecting your occupational field based on engineering skills and abilities that you have gathered to date. Developing a CDR without enough engineering activities to show your professional skills is just a waste of time and money. So, if you have enough engineering activities to back up both your academic and work history, you are eligible to apply for both occupational fields.

Following is a case study of a Nigerian engineer who immigrated to Australia and received a positive outcome in two different occupation fields based on his academic and work histories.

Mr. Ongdas is an Agricultural engineer who graduated from Nigeria. But he has been working as a mechanical engineer for the past five years in one of the most reputed engineering firms back in Nigeria. He has been involved in several project engineers as a mechanical engineer and certainly has the skills and abilities a mechanical engineer should have.

After migrating to Australia, Ongdas explored that he had to be a registered engineer in Australia to enter the industry. Since the Australian Education wing did not accredit his degree, he needed to prepare CDR to register himself as an Engineer. But he had no idea about preparing a CDR application, so he decided to opt for a CDR writing service. This is how Ongdas and CDRAustraliaVIP came across each other.

After going through his resume, we discussed the possibility of him registering as a professional Mechanical Engineer due to his employment history as he had been involved in several mechanical engineering projects and was eligible to do so. But Ongdas was skeptical of this idea as his academic documents represented Agricultural Engineering and hence decided to proceed with his academic stream, i.e., Agricultural Engineering.

Thus, we customized his academic projects during his undergraduate days to develop a CDR that demonstrated his skills and abilities as an Agricultural Engineer. After completing the CDR development process, Mr. Ongdas submitted his application to Engineers Australia. He then had to wait anxiously for his professional outcome from Engineers Australia because he was worried about the discrepancies seen on his academic documents and his employment history.

But, after waiting for about a month, Ongdas got a positive outcome and became a registered Agricultural Engineer in Australia. But Ongdas was still worried because he had no prior work experience as an Agricultural Engineer. It could be a hindrance to his professional career in Australia even though he was a registered engineer.

So, Ongdas again expressed his desire to apply to assess himself as a professional mechanical engineer to boost his chances of entering the Australian Engineering industry as he had been working on several mechanical engineering projects. Since he was eligible to apply for the mechanical engineer, we decided to work on his application. After this, we asked Ongdas to provide us details about the projects he was working on as a mechanical engineer. Mr. Ongdas provided all the details of the project he has been involved till date. Then based on his information, the mechanical engineering team at CDRAustraliaVIP selected 3 of his projects and started working on them. Our writers did some serious work out on his projects to optimize his mechanical engineering skills and ensured that the additional details complied with the shreds of evidence he provided to us.

Finally, the finalized draft of Mr. Ongdas CDR application as a professional mechanical engineer was developed. Thus, the developed file was then subjected to a series of quality check processes to avoid misleading information in the developed CDR, leading to rejection. Once the file was deemed okay to proceed, we provided the files to Ongdas and asked him to apply.

Guess what, he received a positive outcome for the second time, and this time it was as a professional mechanical engineer. So, Mr. Ongdas now has two different registrations under Engineers Australia, and he is eligible to work as an engineer in both the Mechanical and Agricultural industries.

CDRAustraliaVIP Process begin

This is only a representative case study. However, many engineers have not been able to pursue their profession in the Australian Engineering Industry. So, if you find any similarities in your profile with that of Mr. Ongdas, you are highly suggested to contact us to analyze and discuss your case with you.

We here at CDRAustraliaVIP focus on the quality of your application. First, we prepare a plan and discuss it with you. Then a draft file is developed, which then goes through several quality control phases before a finalized draft is made available to you. We then ask for your feedback and work on it if there are any. Finally, a project manager handling your case will give you a green signal to proceed with your application.
